MODULATING DITCHLIGHT FLASHER

Otari's Modulating Ditchlight Flasher is currently used by KiwiRail on its mainline and shunting locomotives. Mainline locomotives fitted with the Ditchlight system have two additional locomotive headlights which are slightly angled from the centreline, and which flash on horn application to alert motorists at or approaching level crossings. This feature has proven to be a genuine lifesaver, and has significantly reduced level crossing accidents. Otari's Modulating Ditchlight Flasher uses dual 60-A/600V IGBT to drive two standard locomotive headlights in flash dim and full mode, without the need for additional dropper resistors. The proven reliability of IGBTs in harsh environments makes this product a highly reliable way to improve locomotive safety.
